The Bowel Movement is an organisation dedicated to supporting young adults after a life-changing bowel cancer diagnosis. Founded in 2021 by Abigail Morris, her mother Josephine and sister Stephanie, it grew from the experience of Benjamin Millard, who was diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer at 33 and died in 2019. His story informs the organisation’s commitment to raising awareness and helping others navigate the disease.

Its mission is to build an inclusive community and equip people with knowledge to recognise bowel cancer signs and symptoms. The Bowel Movement also aims to empower people through detection, diagnosis, treatment and life beyond treatment. Its work includes sharing real-life stories, providing information and resources, and offering a Hardship Fund for eligible people. Supporters can get involved through events and fundraisers, donate to help the organisation’s work, or shop for items such as enamel pins. By combining awareness, community support and practical assistance, The Bowel Movement seeks to help young adults feel better informed and less alone while living with bowel cancer.
