About The Broad
The Broad is a contemporary art museum founded by Eli and Edythe Broad with the goal of sharing their collection of over 2,000 works of contemporary art and creating a new cultural landmark in Los Angeles. The museum, located on Grand Avenue, offers free general admission and presents a vibrant program of rotating temporary exhibitions and engaging public programming. The Broad's collection features in-depth representations of influential contemporary artists, enriching and inspiring appreciation of art of our time.
The museum's iconic building, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler, showcases two floors of gallery space and houses the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation's worldwide lending library. With its innovative veil-and-vault concept, the building seamlessly integrates collection storage into the museum experience. The Broad also prioritizes diversity and inclusion through its Diversity Apprenticeship Program, which provides career opportunities in the art world.
Sustainability is another focus, with the museum achieving LEED Gold certification for its energy-saving design features and commitment to sustainable practices. With its compelling collection, innovative architecture, and inclusive programming, The Broad aims to make contemporary art accessible to the widest possible audience and foster a deep appreciation for art of our time
