About The D-Day Story
The D-Day Story is an engaging and educational brand that tells the powerful story of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. As one of six museums run by Portsmouth Museums, it holds a remarkable collection of over 10,000 items, preserving, researching, and acquiring objects to share with the public. Accredited and meeting nationally agreed standards, The D-Day Story offers exhibitions, workshops, and various activities to bring history to life.
Opened by HRH The Princess Royal in May 2018, The D-Day Story aims to reflect the diversity of Portsmouth's culture and communities, providing inspirational opportunities for people to enjoy and learn from their incredible collections. As part of Portsmouth City Council, they showcase the national and international heritage of the city. The D-Day Story is supported by the Portsmouth D-Day Museum Trust and has received numerous accolades, including being certified by Visit England for its Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme.
They have also been granted the prestigious TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award and named Creative/Cultural/Visitor Business of the Year at the Portsmouth News Business Excellence Awards.
