The Desert Doula

The Desert Doula LLC provides birth and postpartum support to families in Moses Lake, Washington, and surrounding communities, serving an area within approximately 100 miles, with winter availability varying. Founded around the care and guidance of doula Mariah Montero, the practice welcomes families of all backgrounds and supports a range of birth plans, including unmedicated, medicated, home, and planned cesarean births.

Mariah is an Indigenous birth and postpartum doula, a student midwife, a Certified Medical Assistant, and a certified midwifery assistant. Her training includes DONA and the Center for Indigenous Midwifery, and she specializes in Spinning Babies and Mexican Traditional Medicine. She also holds postpartum coaching and peer-support facilitation credentials.

Services center on emotional, physical, and educational support before, during, and after birth. This can include helping families prepare, offering comfort techniques during labor, supporting partners, and providing postpartum coaching. The Desert Doula emphasizes informed choices, respectful care, and treating birth as a meaningful ceremony. Doula services are available at no cost to Apple Health/Medicaid clients.
