Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of today. Already its impacts are being felt by people and nature across the globe, with developing countries being most affected. The Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD) enables investment in projects aimed at climate adaptation and mitigation in developing countries. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made available €160 million to increase the resilience of communities and ecosystems most vulnerable to climate change. The DFCD is managed by a pioneering consortium of Climate Fund Managers (CFM), World Wildlife Fund Netherlands (WWF-NL) and SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, led by the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank, FMO. The DFCD forms an important additional instrument for the Dutch government’s efforts in contributing to the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD) is a climate resilience fund that supports climate adaptation projects benefiting vulnerable communities and landscapes. We are funded by the Dutch government and driven by a consortium of expert organizations, including FMO, CFM, SNV, and WWF Netherlands. Our goal is to inject substantial funding into solid business solutions that advance climate adaptation and curb the effects of climate change.
We provide access to finance for promising early-stage initiatives, helping them develop and grow into scalable projects that are resilient to climate change. To maximize investment potential, we de-risk projects through our Origination Facility, offering financial and technical assistance. Our Investment Facilities focus on water and land use projects, managed by CFM and FMO, respectively.
We work across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, partnering with projects in vulnerable regions, actively seeking private sector investment opportunities. Our priorities include promoting climate-resilient growth, fostering partnerships for impact, and providing comprehensive support with a focus on climate change adaptation
