About The Dot Experience
The Dot Experience is an inclusive museum and visitor attraction in Louisville, Kentucky, created by the American Printing House for the Blind (APH). Scheduled to open on October 30, 2026, it will offer a tactile-first exploration of human experiences, accessibility, and the lives and contributions of people who are blind or have low vision. Across 28,000 square feet, visitors of all ages and abilities will encounter interactive exhibits, sensory experiences, historical artifacts, and accessibility innovations. Features include braille, American Sign Language interpretation, visual descriptions, tactile pathways, reachable displays, and assistive technology.
Exhibits explore figures such as Helen Keller and Louis Braille, alongside stories of others whose experiences have shaped the world. Visitors can engage with replicas, personal objects, archival materials, and interactive storytelling. The museum also provides resources for planning visits, accessibility information, school programming, event rentals, and opportunities to support its work through donations and volunteering. Extending APH’s longstanding mission to develop educational tools, accessible technology, and resources, The Dot Experience aims to foster learning, connection, and a deeper understanding of inclusion.
