Feeding Friend is a pet nutrition resource focused on helping dog and cat owners make informed feeding decisions. Its free calculator creates a personalized feeding plan using factors such as a pet’s weight, age, breed, activity level, and spay or neuter status. The service uses veterinary energy formulas, including resting energy requirement (RER) and daily energy requirement (DER), to provide a science-informed estimate of a pet’s needs.
Beyond feeding plans, Feeding Friend offers pet profiles, practical meal-planning guidance, food comparisons, and tools to track nutrition and cost over time. The site also publishes research and educational articles on nutrition, weight management, longevity, feeding guidelines, and supplementation. Its resources include recovery guides for canine CCL surgery, including lateral suture and TPLO pathways, as well as at-home physical therapy exercises for use after veterinary clearance.
Founded by Jake Kelly and inspired by his experience helping his dog Bear lose weight, Feeding Friend aims to help owners replace guesswork with clear, practical guidance.
