About Cartyisme
The Florentines is an on-chain NFT collection inspired by Renaissance figures and rendered in a 2-bit, Game Boy-style pixel aesthetic. The collection includes 1,401 NFTs, a number chosen to reference the year the Renaissance began. Each Florentine represents one of seven randomly assigned icons, including Leonardo da Vinci, the Mona Lisa, Botticelli, Raphael, Michelangelo, Machiavelli, and the Medici.
The character assigned at mint is permanent, while holders can customize its appearance by selecting from more than 140 traits across backgrounds, necks, heads, eyes, and mouths. Traits can be swapped through the project’s online dashboard, which also lets holders view Florin holdings and reunite orphaned Florins. Smart contracts enforce unique trait combinations, so no two Florentines can share the same combo.
The project runs on Ethereum mainnet and stores its trait data fully on-chain using SSTORE2, without relying on IPFS. Artwork is hand-created in Aseprite rather than generated by AI. Florentines are available through OpenSea, with the dashboard providing customization tools for holders
