About The Fort
The Fort Restaurant in Morrison, CO offers a unique dining experience steeped in history. Opened for business in February 1963, The Fort is a replica of Bent's Old Fort, a famous Colorado fur trade fort built in 1833. The restaurant is located on a beautiful red rock property just southwest of Denver.
It was originally built as an adobe-style home by Sam’l P. Arnold and Elizabeth Arnold, who were amateur historians. When the construction costs exceeded the budget, they decided to turn their home into a restaurant.
The Fort's menu is inspired by the culinary influences of the Mexican and Spanish traders who frequented Bent's Fort, as well as the cuisines of the native Indian tribes, pioneers, and mountain men. Their staples include buffalo, elk, and quail, with over 80,000 buffalo entrees served annually. The Hailstorm, the first Colorado cocktail served in 1833, is their signature drink.
The Fort's Executive Chef combines historic recipes with modern twists, introducing dishes like buffalo empanadas. Immerse yourself in the rich Western cultural and culinary past at The Fort, where you can experience a fusion of flavors that restore your soul and satisfy your stomach
