The Gage Schroeder Compassion Foundation honors the memory of Gage Schroeder, a Franklin High School wrestler from El Paso, Texas, who died in a tragic accident at age 14. Founded by his family, the organization carries forward his legacy of kindness, compassion, and connection through scholarships, grants, and the annual Gage Memorial Wrestling Tournament.
The tournament brings together the wrestling community and celebrates qualities that mattered deeply to Gage. Each year, the Gage Schroeder Courage Award recognizes one boy and one girl wrestler who demonstrate courage, integrity, and kindness while overcoming personal challenges. The Jesse Almodovar Compassionate Coach Award honors a coach nominated by wrestlers for making a meaningful impact on their lives.
Since 2017, the foundation has awarded more than $70,000 in scholarships and grants, supported by donations and tournament sponsors. Visitors can learn about the tournament and foundation, view scholarship recipients, contribute, or inquire about sponsorships. Through these programs, the organization supports young people and recognizes compassion, resilience, and positive influence in wrestling.
