About Gallería
Gallería was an art technology venture active from 2023 to 2025, focused on giving physical artworks durable, verifiable provenance. It issued cryptographic certificates of authenticity linked to individual pieces through secure NFC tags. Collectors could tap a phone to a tag and verify the artwork against a public blockchain record, allowing authenticity and provenance to be checked without relying on a private company database.
The system used secure chips that signed one-time verification challenges, with records supported on Base, Polygon, and Ethereum. Gallería also provided tools for artists and galleries, including account management designed to work without requiring them to use crypto wallets and a simple console for managing collections. Before closing, the company ran pilot programs with museums and galleries and supported artists and collectors using its certificates to track artworks as they changed hands.
Gallería’s verification service was retired in March 2025, and its website now serves as an archive of the project, its technology, and community experiences
