About The Global Child
The Global Child is an organization dedicated to creating change and supporting people in need, particularly in Cambodia. With a mission to empower individuals and communities, The Global Child believes in the power of education to transform lives. The organization was founded in 2003 by Judy Wheeler, who was inspired by the intelligence and resilience of street-working children in Phnom Penh.
The concept of providing a dollar a day to families in exchange for sending their children to school became the foundation of The Global Child. Initially starting with 11 students, the organization opened a school in Phnom Penh, which later moved to Siem Reap. The school provides education, meals, and even housing to students who come from underprivileged backgrounds.
In addition to supporting the students, The Global Child also provides financial assistance to their families as well as other staff members and their families, totaling over 200 individuals. The organization's board consists of dedicated individuals with diverse backgrounds, including retail, pharmaceuticals, education, and medical technology. Their combined expertise and passion drive The Global Child's initiatives and ensure its success.
Through their work, The Global Child aims to create a better future for today's children, making a positive impact in their lives and the world around them
