The Guerrilla Collection is a free arts festival founded in Auckland in 2018 by Neil Ieremia, Artistic Director of Black Grace. It brings together Pacific and Moana Oceania artists across disciplines to create and share engaging work, often in collaboration with Black Grace dance artists. The festival aims to make art accessible to everyone while challenging conventional ways of producing and presenting it.
Its programme has included original performances, dance, theatre, poetry, film, music and community events. In 2021 and 2022, the festival moved online, offering youth competitions, free dance videos and creative resources. After a six-year hiatus, it returns with A Niu Dawn, a free one-day festival at Te Pou Theatre and Corban Estate Arts Centre in Henderson, Auckland.
The event features original works, live music, food trucks, a children’s programme and free health information. Bringing artists and community groups together, A Niu Dawn explores the experiences and legacy of the Dawn Raids in Aotearoa, creating space for reflection and a hopeful future for Moana Oceania communities
