The Guru Index is an independent skincare information platform that brings together public opinions from dermatologists, cosmetic chemists, and trusted skincare voices. It helps shoppers compare products through a single Guru Score, calculated from experts’ recommendations and criticisms rather than anonymous star ratings. The index covers thousands of products and brands, with rankings across categories such as moisturizers, serums, cleansers, sunscreens, retinoids, toners, foundation, and eye care. Users can browse expert takes, explore rankings, and find products suited to skin types including dry, oily, sensitive, combination, acne-prone, mature, and normal skin.
The Guru Index does not make or sell skincare, and brands cannot pay to improve their scores. Sponsored recommendations are identified and weighted less than independent opinions; scores may be withheld when there is insufficient independent feedback. Scores are updated daily as experts publish new takes. A free iPhone app lets users scan product labels to view scores and attributed expert comments. Shopping links may earn the platform a commission, but this does not affect its verdicts.
