About The Harris Center
The Harris Center Foundation for Mental Health and IDD, established in 2006 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to supporting the Harris Center for Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) based in Houston, Texas. The foundation aims to create philanthropic investments that expand crucial services and programs to better serve the community's mental health needs. Through an annual funding process, staff members proactively submit projects that improve care delivery for those they serve, leading to impactful initiatives supported by the foundation.
Over the years, The Harris Center Foundation has distributed more than $472,105 across 17 projects, significantly enhancing the workforce and offering employment opportunities for individuals with mental health challenges. Among its successful efforts is the CapeABLE Coffee initiative. Additionally, the foundation is expanding its services with the new Youth and Family Wellness Center, designed to provide comprehensive, holistic care in underserved communities. By transforming lives, the foundation supports over 80,000 individuals annually, fostering improved mental health and well-being in the region.
