About International Council of Design
The International Council of Design (ICoD) is a global network of independent member organizations that share common issues, commitments, and standards on design. As the largest representative of professional designer entities worldwide, ICoD aims to create a unified voice for the global design community. They drive a high-level dialogue on the leading role design plays in society, culture, and the economy.
Founded in 1963 as Icograda, the International Council of Graphic Design Associations, ICoD is headquartered in Montreal, Canada. Over the years, the council has evolved tremendously, incorporating educational institutions and national governments to support design councils and promotional bodies. Today, ICoD thrives in an ever-changing design landscape, embracing technology and the proliferation of accessible digital tools that have made design available to everyone.
ICoD's mission is to increase the recognition of the value of design, elevate global design standards, and improve the situation of individual designers worldwide.
