About The Journal
The Journal, an award-winning literary journal of The Ohio State University, is dedicated to showcasing the diverse human experience through new and established voices. Founded in 1973, The Journal aims to challenge traditional literary norms by elevating BIPOC, queer, trans, working-class, and other underrepresented writers. With a commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity, The Journal publishes a mix of genres, including poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, by emerging talents and renowned authors.
The magazine, published four times a year, has a rich history of featuring notable writers like Terrance Hayes, Brenda Hillman, and Jericho Brown. Through its land acknowledgement, The Journal recognizes and supports indigenous communities in Ohio. Supported by donations and the English Department at OSU, The Journal is a vital platform for groundbreaking literature that celebrates individuality and creativity
