The Joy Project of Southwest Michigan

The Joy Project of SWMI is a community-focused organization that helps people with different abilities and their families build joy-filled lives through family support and connection. Its programs are designed to encourage social participation, learning, and a sense of belonging for people of all ages, while also supporting parents and caregivers.

The organization’s first phase includes social groups for people aged 15 and older, with after-school programs, holiday parties, and community events. Parent-focused offerings include support groups, education and resources, and respite. Future plans include a community center that would bring programs together in one place, offer summer day programs and independent-living skills classes, and provide a welcoming place to belong. A further planned phase would develop a residential community, including supportive housing, long-term residential options, and transitional housing.

The Joy Project also shares events, resources, and opportunities to get involved through its website and newsletter. Guided by a Christian perspective, it invites the community to help create a more joyful and connected life for individuals and families.
