The Kintsugi Room is a Los Angeles Japanese ceramic restoration project founded by artist and maker Emi Kato Jones. Rooted in Japanese craftsmanship, the brand celebrates repair, imperfection, and the connections that form when people create together. Jones, who grew up in Seto City, Japan, studied Kintsugi with master artisans in Nagoya and Ichinokura before bringing the practice to Los Angeles.
The Kintsugi Room offers small-group Modern Kintsugi workshops, where participants repair a ceramic piece and create a small Kintsugi crane. Materials are provided, and guests may bring an item for suitability assessment. The brand also accepts repair requests in three styles: Modern Kintsugi with a gold-colored finish, Hybrid Kintsugi with genuine 23K gold, and Traditional Kintsugi using urushi lacquer and genuine 23K gold. Food safety and repair times vary by method.
For private parties, corporate events, and team-building gatherings, The Kintsugi Room provides tailored experiences, including a collaborative Yobitsugi tile activity. Through workshops, restoration, and events, it brings people together to honor the stories held in repaired objects.
