The Leap Center is a community-based, abilities-inclusive center serving children, youth, young adults, and families in the East Bay. Based in San Leandro, California, it supports children with autism and other developmental disabilities while welcoming participants of all abilities. Its neurodiversity-affirming programs focus on social recreation, friendship, communication, confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging.
Services include weekday after-school programs, Saturday activities, school-break camps, and LEAP Camp, a summer day camp. Participants can explore gardening, sports, arts and crafts, STEM, dramatic arts, movement, and other hands-on activities. Pop-up experiences may include yoga, cooking, dance, music, mindfulness, robotics, and cultural activities. Saturday Camp also features community outings, birthday parties, and the LEAP2THRIVE Farmer’s Market.
The Leap Center emphasizes individualized, strengths-based support, emotional safety, consistent routines, and family partnership. Its compassionate staff work with families and collaborate with culturally responsive clinicians—including speech and occupational therapists, social workers, BCBAs, and school psychologists—to inform programming, train staff, and support participants.
