The Living Room

The Living Room SF is a literary arts organization that creates community experiences and supports writers across the Bay Area, with a primary focus on BIPOC writers and those facing income instability. Its work aims to cultivate literary community while developing economic opportunities for local writers. The organization produces readings and themed poetry events, bringing writers together with audiences and, at times, guest musicians.

Past programs include a Black History Month poetry night, a Juneteenth poetry celebration, and shows exploring themes such as travel and cruelty. Events have been hosted by Kevin Dublin, including gatherings at San Francisco’s Kimpton Alton Hotel. Beyond live programming, The Living Room SF offers publications and writing workshops, and develops partnerships connected to its literary and community mission.

Its site also features a “Kitchen Table” and “Living Room” series, alongside information about curators, partners, and venues. The organization is a member of Intersection for the Arts, a historic arts nonprofit that provides fiscal sponsorship and resources to people working in arts and culture
