The Living Well Project is a registered charity serving local communities in Aberdeen, with a focus on supporting older people and those affected by memory loss or dementia. Its work brings together two strands of community care: a befriending service and welcoming dementia cafés. The befriending service has supported older people in the north of Aberdeen since 2010. After a period on hold, the charity is rebuilding the service, with plans to welcome new referrals and volunteers.
The Living Well Cafés provide a safe, friendly space for people with dementia or memory loss and their carers to spend time together. Four cafés meet on alternating Tuesdays and Thursdays at church venues across Aberdeen, including Bucksburn, Bridge of Don, Fonthill Road and Hilton. Sessions typically run from 1pm to 3pm, and there is no formal charge, though donations are welcome. Café activities include entertainment, singing, dancing and Boccia, helping visitors connect and enjoy a supportive social setting. The charity also welcomes volunteers, befrienders and donations to help sustain its community services.
