Thelma Mäkikyrö Foundation is a northern Finnish grant-making foundation established in 2006 by Oulu dentist Thelma Iiris Mäkikyrö to support cancer research. It is a nonprofit organization and does not conduct commercial business. Since its founding, the foundation has awarded grants each year to advance cancer research and the development of treatments, with a particular focus on researchers and research carried out in northern Finland.
Its support includes research grants for individual researchers and research groups, as well as travel grants; it may also make donations to organizations and projects that further its purpose. Through its grants and fundraising, the foundation helps sustain regional research and has supported dozens of projects, contributing approximately one million euros to cancer research over its lifetime
