Lowcountry Hunt

Founded in spring 2006, Lowcountry Hunt is a Masters of Foxhounds Association-recognized hunt club based in Walterboro, South Carolina. It brings riders, hounds, and friends together to continue the tradition of mounted foxhunting across the Lowcountry, from Charleston to Savannah, with access to historic plantations made possible by generous landowners. The club’s riding country includes salt marshes, groves of ancient live oaks, and other distinctive landscapes.

Conservation is central to Lowcountry Hunt’s approach. In keeping with the MFHA’s mission to promote, preserve, and protect mounted hunting with hounds, the club emphasizes respect for the land, wildlife, and outdoors alongside its sporting traditions.

Lowcountry Hunt offers opportunities to learn about the sport and plan a visit, with guidance on attending a hunt, capping, attire, etiquette, required forms, and hunting resources. The club also maintains information about its masters, staff, hounds, events, fixtures, and junior participants. Membership is by invitation and subject to approval by the Masters or Board; prospective members may contact the Hunt to express interest.
