The Maa Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to community-owned conservancies in the Maasai Mara, Kenya. Our goal is to maximize the benefits of wildlife and conservation for Maasai families, fostering their appreciation and active participation in protecting the region's wild animals and land. We take a research-based approach, conducting thorough baseline and endline assessments to measure and understand our impact. By directing funding strategically and facilitating sustainable projects, we empower people to help themselves. We support small business startups and microfinance schemes, enabling local entrepreneurs to generate their own income and invest in their family's development.

Through our social enterprises, such as Maa Beadwork and Maa Honey, we measure success not only by earnings but also by the positive impact on the lives of our members. With increased income, these individuals can afford clean drinking water, solar power, alternative fuels, and improved education for their children. Education is vital to the success of the conservancies and the preservation of this renowned ecosystem.

We collaborate with donor organizations to build classrooms and dormitories with essential amenities, connect students in need with scholarships, and provide conservation education for both students and teachers.
