The Mat Mission

The Mat Mission, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to bringing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to communities in need. Founded in 2022, it uses martial arts as a way to support young people through training, leadership, and mentorship. Its purpose is to help strengthen communities and create positive opportunities for youth.

The organization’s work includes community projects, events, and its tournament, alongside opportunities for people to volunteer or provide sponsorship. Its flagship project, Braid 7, offers youth mentorship and Jiu Jitsu training in East Fort Worth. The Mat Mission also highlights Genesis Jiu Jitsu, based in River Oaks, Texas, where community youth take part in martial arts under the leadership of John Hoffman.

The Mat Mission invites individuals to support its work through one-time or recurring donations and to sign up for email updates about its events and projects. It also features partner organizations and initiatives, including Roll The World and The BJJ Executive Podcast, connecting its community with Jiu Jitsu apparel, instruction, and conversations about longevity in the sport.
