About The MedFund
The MedFund is a non-profit environmental fund based in Monaco. It was established in 2015 by France, Monaco, Tunisia, and the Prince Albert II Foundation in order to enhance the management of Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). The goal of The MedFund is to provide sustainable funding for the conservation of marine biodiversity in the region.
As a private institution, The MedFund mobilizes financial resources from public and private partners to support the long-term financing of Mediterranean MPAs. By investing these resources, The MedFund grants subsidies to NGOs and national management authorities of MPAs across the Mediterranean countries. The MedFund is not only an environmental fund but also a platform for Mediterranean cooperation, bringing together civil society and Mediterranean states.
