The Milky Way is a lactation services provider and authorized Medela Rental Station serving families in Kountze and Southeast Texas. Founded around the experience of Kimberly Hamm, RN, BSN, IBCLC, the business is dedicated to helping parents meet their personal breastfeeding goals with informed, practical support. Hamm began her career as a neonatal nurse in 2008 and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2014.
Services include in-office lactation consultations at the Kountze clinic and home visits by appointment. These sessions last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and include a maternal and infant health history, assessment of latch and milk transfer, an oral assessment for the baby, and a personalized care plan. Prenatal consultations offer one-on-one breastfeeding education for expectant parents and their families, either in the office or at home.
The Milky Way also rents Medela hospital-grade breast pumps and BabyWeigh II infant scales by the week or month. The scale helps measure milk intake by comparing an infant’s weight before and after breastfeeding.
