The Pedal Factory in Salisbury, NC is dedicated to making bicycles accessible to all individuals. They offer an exciting program called 'Earn a Bike', which is the heart of their organization. Through this program, any individual, age 13 and over, can receive a bike at no cost in exchange for volunteer service.
The process is simple, requiring a commitment of time, a willingness to learn, and a dedication to being a safe, responsible cyclist. Adults who participate in the program receive a helmet, lock, and set of lights for transportation purposes. For youth under the age of 13, the requirements include spending a few hours in the shop, learning bike maintenance, road rules, and demonstrating their skills during a safety ride.
Parents must be present during these sessions. In addition to the Earn a Bike program, The Pedal Factory also offers shop credit that can be earned through volunteer service, which can be used to purchase used parts and accessories. Contribute to the Pedal Factory by donating and help keep the community's pedals turning
