About THE POINT CDC
THE POINT Community Development Corporation is a brand dedicated to the youth development and cultural and economic revitalization of the Hunts Point section in the South Bronx. With over 20 years of service, THE POINT takes a multi-faceted approach to asset-based community development. Their programs are divided into three main categories: Youth Development, Arts and Culture, and Community Development.
Under Youth Development, THE POINT offers after-school and summer programming for 500 young individuals in grades 1-12. These programs focus on justice-based arts and service learning activities to support academic, pre-professional, and positive social development. Their Arts and Cultural Programs aim to cultivate and preserve South Bronx culture, making the arts accessible to Hunts Point residents.
They have received ongoing funding by the National Endowment of the Arts and have won various awards for their contributions to arts and culture. THE POINT also works on community development through environmental justice, youth development, and arts and culture. Their initiatives include the South Bronx Greenway, the South Bronx Community Resiliency Agenda Lab, and the Free Hunts Point Wi-fi Project.
