The Possible Man is a Portugal-rooted organisation creating spaces where men can meet themselves and one another. It brings together clinical psychology, peer support, embodied practice and research to support men’s mental health and wellbeing, with work extending across the Lusophone world and Europe. Founded by psychologist, therapeutic facilitator and author João Vaz, the organisation grew from his book The Possible Man, a reflection on masculinity and alternatives to inherited models.
Its three core programs are the Buddy Program, which matches trained volunteers with men experiencing isolation, grief, life transitions or emotional difficulty; a curated Clinical Network connecting men with health professionals; and a preventative Schools Program for boys aged 10–18, covering emotional literacy, healthy masculinities, consent, boundaries and relationships. Training pathways include Buddy and Facilitator Certifications. The organisation also offers men’s gatherings, retreats and trips that support personal development in community. Its approach emphasises structured, respectful care rather than treating men as broken, combining professional support with connection and shared experience.
