The Racehorse Sanctuary

The Racehorse Sanctuary & Rehoming Centre is a registered charity based in Pulborough, West Sussex, dedicated to giving former racehorses a second chance at life. Its mission is to support thoroughbred welfare by helping horses adjust to life after racing and find a safe, fulfilling future. The centre provides assessment and rehabilitation, retraining, rehoming, and sanctuary care, including support for horses with high-dependency needs. Some horses are prepared for new homes and riding, while others are offered companion roles or remain as resident horses when they need ongoing care.

A committed team of staff and volunteers works to protect the wellbeing of the horses. The charity also shares success stories and updates about its residents, activities, and events. Supporters can help through donations, sponsoring a horse, becoming a friend, leaving a gift in a will, fundraising, or purchasing merchandise. The centre welcomes visitors to events such as its open day, offering opportunities to meet the horses and learn about its work.
