Therapeutic Riding

Therapeutic Riding, Inc. (TRI) is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization in Ann Arbor, Michigan, dedicated to creating equestrian opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. Its mission is to transform participants’ lives through horsemanship, with a vision of people of all abilities learning, playing, growing, and competing together as equals.

TRI offers several programs, including Adaptive Horsemanship, Para-Dressage, ConnEQtions, and Equicizer Experience. Through these activities, participants can develop riding and horsemanship skills while enjoying meaningful experiences with horses. The organization highlights benefits that may include improved balance, muscle strength, communication, social skills, confidence, and self-esteem, as well as opportunities to build friendships and discover athletic abilities.

TRI also maintains a herd of horses and invites community members to get involved through volunteering, donations, fundraising events, and merchandise purchases. More than 100 volunteers support its programs each week. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Therapeutic Riding, Inc. relies on individuals, local businesses, and foundations to help provide its services. It also shares news and program updates through a semi-annual newsletter.
