Therapieklettern Nink is the therapeutic climbing practice of Christopher Nink, a state-certified occupational therapist based in Wirges. The service uses climbing as a motivating, whole-body form of functional training for children, young people and adults, combining therapy with movement, challenge and enjoyment. Sessions are tailored to each person and are available as individual therapy or in small groups of up to three participants. For children and adolescents, activities are presented in a playful way; adult sessions may focus on strengthening the body after an accident or addressing fears through new experiences.
Therapeutic climbing may support people with movement or coordination difficulties, social challenges, low self-confidence and attention difficulties, including ADHD. Its intended benefits include improving motor skills, coordination, body awareness and sensory processing, while building strength, confidence, motivation and the ability to overcome fears. Nink draws on his occupational therapy experience and provides climbing technique instruction, following tested German Alpine Club safety standards. Therapy sessions last 60 minutes and take place at two locations: Kanditurm and a practice setting.
