The Resilient Veteran

The Resilient Veteran is the public-facing program of the Northwest Pennsylvania Veteran Suicide Prevention Program, focused on raising awareness and working to prevent suicide deaths among veterans. It brings together healthcare partners, community organizations, veterans, and their families, offering information and practical ways to participate in prevention efforts. The program provides training and events for healthcare professionals and communities, including courses on suicide prevention, trauma-informed response, lethal-means safety, and connections between suicide prevention and substance use disorder care.

Listed trainings are free, with some offering continuing education credit. Veterans and families can also find guidance on understanding health coverage, community and media toolkits, wellness support apps, and programs involving animal companionship and equestrian lessons. Additional resources include a caring messages campaign, program FAQs, reports, newsletters, and information about the advisory group.
