Rob Wilkinson

The R.R. Wilkinson Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the civil rights history of Roanoke, Virginia. Founded by the family of Rev. Dr. Raymond Rogers Wilkinson, a pastor and NAACP leader, the foundation highlights his role in efforts to integrate public schools, Woolworths, Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and other public facilities, as well as to remove an open-air landfill from a Black neighborhood. Its work focuses on the Roanoke civil rights movement of 1959–1968 and the community pioneers who challenged inequality.

The foundation offers educational resources, including historical articles, photographs, video clips, and information about local events and commemorations. It aims to bridge past and present through lectures for universities, colleges, public schools, and community organizations, and hopes to develop classroom publications about Rev. Wilkinson’s work. The organization also seeks donations to support a documentary about his life and contributions. Supporters can contribute by donation, sponsorship, or purchasing foundation T-shirts, and can follow its mailing list for event updates.
