About The Sloth Institute
The Sloth Institute is a dedicated organization in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, focused on enhancing the welfare and conservation of sloths through various initiatives. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release hand-raised and injured sloths while conducting essential research, conservation, and education programs to ensure their survival.
One of their signature programs is the Sloth Speedways, which supports the installation of rope bridges, reconnecting fragmented rainforests and allowing sloths and other wildlife to travel safely. They also promote Responsible Sloth Tourism by educating visitors about ethical ways to interact with sloths. The organization has a comprehensive Education & Training program, locally and internationally, teaching all ages about sloths and how to protect them.
The Sloth Institute offers opportunities for involvement, including volunteering, donating, and adopting a sloth. By symbolically adopting a sloth, you support orphaned and injured sloths in returning to the rainforest. The organization also offers volunteering positions for Sloth Technicians and Sloth Husbandry and Field Technicians.
Through their efforts, The Sloth Institute aims to make a difference in the welfare and conservation of sloths and inspire others to protect these incredible creatures.
