The Sam Sessler Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in memory of Sam Sessler, whose interests included art, science, and helping people with special needs. Its mission is to support people who share these passions and help them succeed in education. The foundation focuses on young people and works to encourage the next generation to pursue the arts and sciences.
Its scholarship programs provide funding for students seeking education after high school in arts and sciences. The National Arts and Sciences Scholarship is open to eligible students, while the Maranacook Community High School Scholarship serves students from Sam’s alma mater in Readfield, Maine.
The foundation also offers funding for adaptive classrooms. Educators, teachers, aides, therapists, and parents can apply for support toward specific goals that improve accessibility for individual students and learners more broadly. Individuals may also apply for assistance with personal assistive technology needs that insurance does not cover or meet.
Through donations and applications, the foundation aims to extend Sam’s legacy of creativity, compassion, and support for learning.
