About The TAG Movement
The TAG Movement is a social impact organization working to help children and teens thrive by putting technology in its place. It responds to concerns that a tech-based childhood is displacing free play, independence, and human connection while exposing young people to new risks. Led by Jon Haidt and cofounder and CEO Alexa Arnold, TAG turns research into practical solutions, policy action, and cultural change, collaborating with researchers, schools, policymakers, and organizations worldwide.
Its policy work advocates for phone-free schools, stronger protections against addictive technology, accountability for tech companies, and safeguards for AI and educational technology. Through books including The Anxious Generation and The Amazing Generation, media, storytelling, and a planned documentary, TAG helps build public understanding and momentum. The organization also offers research-backed resources and tools for families, educators, young adults, and community groups, including videos, guides to basic phones, policy information through The Childhood Index, and research updates.
