The Tao of Birthing® is a holistic childbirth education practice created by Caitlin Philips in 2005 and based in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Drawing on her experience as a doula, HypnoBirth educator, clinical hypnotherapist, massage therapist, and CranioSacral therapist, Philips helps expectant parents prepare for labor and birth with confidence and flexibility. The practice offers comprehensive HypnoBirth classes for individuals and couples, available in person or online, in groups or privately.
Classes support births at home, in hospitals, and at free-standing birth centers, with or without an epidural. Participants learn about the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and psychological aspects of birth, including ways to build stamina, work with the changing course of labor, and honor each family’s individual experience. The Tao of Birthing® emphasizes evidence-based, empowering preparation and aims to reduce fear, support informed participation, and help parents approach unexpected changes with acceptance.
Its broader philosophy centers on the early connection between parent and newborn, including bonding during the “fourth trimester. ”
