The Tool Library is an all-volunteer nonprofit tool-lending library located in Buffalo's University Heights neighborhood. Their mission is to provide communities with the tools they need to create the change they want. With over 3,000 tools in their inventory, individuals, organizations, and businesses can become members for a small annual fee and borrow the tools they need to fix up their homes, grow their own food, or improve their community.
The Tool Library also hosts community projects such as neighborhood clean-ups, tree-plantings, community gardens, and public art installations. They believe that a strong community is a civically engaged community. Additionally, they have transformed the storefront next door to the Tool Library into the Community Laboratory or 'CoLab', where they host hands-on DIY workshops to share skills and knowledge.
With their commitment to sustainability, collaboration, and community building, The Tool Library empowers residents in Buffalo and its surrounding suburbs to make positive changes
