The Window Dog is an independent replacement-window information and review resource created by Dan Schweihs, an industry professional with more than 20 years of experience. The site helps homeowners compare window brands, understand pricing and performance, and make informed choices without relying on sales claims. Its reviews and guides cover manufacturers including Andersen, Pella, Alside, Preservation, ProVia, Gentek, Simonton, Vytex, WeatherShield, Jeld-Wen, OKNA, and others.

The Window Dog offers brand reviews and ratings, explanations of energy-efficiency measures such as U-factor and SHGC, guidance on installation and repairs, and advice about warranties, service, pricing, and sales tactics. Its assessments draw on industry experience, product and manufacturing considerations, homeowner feedback, and long-term value; the site states that its recommendations are not based on paid placements. Homeowners can also explore local window-company recommendations and request a free review of an existing quote to help identify potential red flags and assess options. The goal is to make replacement-window projects easier to understand and help readers find suitable products and contractors for their homes and budgets.
