The Workshop Derby

The Workshop, Derby is a community-based provider of therapeutic woodwork and craft activities for adults with disabilities in Derby and Derbyshire. Based at Boulton Lane Park Community Centre, it offers a fully accessible, purpose-designed workshop where customers can explore practical projects and develop skills at their own pace. The service is ability focused, with activities shaped around each customer’s strengths and development. Every customer is assigned a key worker to provide support throughout their projects, from start to finish.

The workshop is equipped with a range of cordless tools and fixed units, which are regularly maintained and PAT tested. Projects include Hoot the Robot, a popular woodworking activity that began as a one-off fundraising design and can be customised by participants. The team also showcases work made by customers, offering examples of their creative projects. Prospective customers, families and referrers can arrange a free visit, and the organisation welcomes client referrals.
