About The World Kindness Movement
The World Kindness Movement (WKM) is a legally registered, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting kindness worldwide. It has no political, commercial, or religious affiliations and brings together organizations and people who share a commitment to making kindness more visible and influential. WKM’s formation took shape at a conference in Tokyo on September 20, 1997, where Japan convened like-minded kindness organizations from around the world. The movement is the creator of World Kindness Day and says it has worked to place kindness on the agenda for more than 25 years.
WKM encourages people to unite in support of kindness through its “One Voice for Kindness” initiative, inviting supporters to say yes to kindness and make their voices count. Its work includes campaigns, news and media, galleries, articles, and booklets. The organization also welcomes eligible not-for-profit and non-governmental organizations, as well as government agencies, to join the movement. Through international membership and outreach, WKM aims to connect kindness-focused groups and strengthen collective advocacy for a kinder world.
