About The Writers Workshop
The Writers Workshop is a Sheffield-based creative writing community supporting authors at every level of experience. Founded by Beverley Ward in 2021 and registered as a nonprofit social enterprise in 2023, it is run by creative-writing practitioners and serves writers locally, nationally and internationally. Its aim is to help people experience the joy and power of creative writing through learning, connection and opportunities to develop their work.
The organisation offers in-person and online writing classes, alongside a varied programme of more than 20 events each month. Writers can also access development opportunities, attend special events and find inspiration through resources such as the workshop’s blog, prompt generator and writing contest. The Writers Workshop welcomes people to join its community, with membership providing discounts across activities and special member privileges.
The organisation receives no public funding and says that growing its community helps support its sustainability. It also offers a mailing list for updates; signing up to the newsletter is separate from becoming a member.
