Thierry Noir

Thierry Noir is a renowned artist known for his groundbreaking work on the Berlin Wall. Born in Lyon, France in 1958, Noir moved to Berlin in January 1982. In April 1984, he became the first artist to paint on the Berlin Wall, marking a significant moment in history.

Noir's objective was to transform and demystify the wall through his colorful and vibrant paintings. Despite the forbidden nature of painting on the wall, Noir fearlessly expressed his defiance and longing for freedom through his art. His iconic works, with their seemingly innocent and playful nature, left a lasting impression on both locals and global audiences.
