About Plume Winnipeg
Plume Winnipeg is a registered nonprofit organization that brings people together through reading- and writing-inspired events and programs. Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, it supports the circulation of books and ideas, with a focus on making literary experiences accessible and fostering meaningful exchange in the community. Its programming includes the Winnipeg Book Festival, formerly known as THIN AIR, an annual fall festival featuring author events and activities. The 29th festival is scheduled for October 1โ4, 2026, at The Forks, with more than 25 events, most of them free and open to all.
Plume Winnipeg also presents year-round series for readers and writers. Speaking Crow is a monthly poetry open mic, typically featuring a Manitoba poet before audience readings, with occasional online gatherings. Writes of Spring is an annual National Poetry Month collaboration with Ariel Gordon and the Winnipeg Free Press, inviting submissions and publishing a curated selection of original poems. Through public events, creative programming, volunteer opportunities and community support, Plume Winnipeg helps connect audiences with writers, stories and ideas.
