Third Serve Foundation

Third Serve Foundation is a nonprofit founded by Bruce Hawtin and Jonathan Barth to expand access to quality tennis and educational opportunities for underserved youth. The founders created the organization after seeing that young people often face barriers to existing programs, including transportation and cost. Third Serve works with interested youth in small community hubs, providing transportation, equipment, coaching, and ongoing support. Its programs introduce children to tennis and help committed participants develop the skills and character needed to pursue competitive play.

The foundation’s vision includes offering free tennis to hundreds of underserved young people across Charleston, creating a pathway to advanced training through the Barth Hawtin Tennis Academy, and helping committed players pursue college scholarships. It also aims to provide program participants with opportunities to attend tournaments and events, and to support lower-level professional players who work with the foundation and engage with its players. Third Serve invites supporters to contribute through donations, with available donation amounts ranging from $100 to $5,000.
