Thomas County Health Department (TCHD) is a local public health agency serving residents of Thomas County, Kansas. Its mission is to improve community health and help make the county a healthy place to live, learn, work, and play. The department’s trained staff provide information and services related to immunizations for children, adults, and travelers, as well as breastfeeding support and lactation consultations through its Breastfeeding Boutique.
TCHD also offers the Becoming a Mom® program, with sessions covering pregnancy, labor and delivery, infant feeding and care, and postpartum health. The program uses the March of Dimes curriculum and is supported by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and March of Dimes. Beyond individual services, the department supports broader public health efforts, including health education, community partnerships, disease and hazard investigation, and initiatives to promote safety and well-being.
