Thomas Foundation

The Thomas Foundation is a charitable organization supporting patients, employees, and hospital departments at WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals in South Charleston, West Virginia. Through community and donor support, the Foundation helps advance patient care and address practical needs that can affect health and recovery. Its programs include the GAP Fund, which has helped patients receive food and free prescriptions when leaving the hospital, as well as grants for hospital departments to support excellence in patient care.

The Foundation also invests in education and workforce development through nursing scholarships, nursing programs, certification support, and continuing-education assistance for employees. Its employee giving initiatives include an Employee Assistance Fund, an Employee Giving Club, and department grants. Individuals can contribute through planned, monthly, memorial, grateful-patient, and other forms of giving.

The Foundation also brings supporters together through events such as its spring soirée, annual golf tournament, and Bourbon Night.
